**Winter Storm Preparation, Safety, and Outage Reporting**

If you lose power, please call 781-235-7600.  We will likely experience high call volume, so please be brief and simply report your address only.  If it is an emergency, life-threatening situation, call 911.

If we experience outage(s), we will work to restore electric service as quickly and safely as possible.  For further information on preparing for and staying safe during and after the storm, please visit our webpage.

*High Bill Alert*

Due to the colder temperatures this winter, you may be experiencing higher electric bills to keep your homes and businesses warm.  For the period November 15 through December 15, the mean daily temperature was 32.6 degrees F in 2025 compared to 38.4 degrees F in 2024 (based on NWS data for the nearest weather station in Norwood, MA).  For the same period, the total "heating degree days" (HDD) was 994 in 2025, or 21% higher, than the 819 recorded in 2024.  The HDD is a unit of measure for recording how cold it has been by comparing the mean daily temperature to a base value of 65 degrees F.  If the mean temperature for the day is, say, 25 degrees F, then there are 40 HDD recorded for that day.

MassLive also reported that Boston just recorded its second coldest December in 25 years (second only to 2017 since 2000).

To lower your energy bills, we encourage that you weatherize your home through air sealing and insulation. Mass Save® or the WMLP offers rebates depending on how you heat your home.
