Flood Hazard Information

At the 2025 Annual Town Meeting, Town Meeting Members voted to approve Article 39, which made revisions to the Town’s Floodplain or Watershed Protection District. Part of these revisions included adopting language to comply with the State’s Model Floodplain Bylaw as well as adopting new Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM) and new Flood Insurance Study (FIS) reports, which took effect on July 8, 2025. These copies can be found on this webpage. Additionally, you can also see the changes to the Town’s Flood Zones on the Town of Wellesley’s Updated FEMA Flood Zones Map

The aforementioned maps and reports were developed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and include flood hazard information for certain locations in Town. The flood hazard information includes additions and/or modifications of Special Flood Hazard Areas, the areas that would be inundated by the base (1-percent-annual-chance) flood; base flood elevations or depths; zone designations; or regulatory floodways. These recently adopted flood hazard determinations are the basis for floodplain management measures. The town’s adoption of these measures was required to remain qualified for participation in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), which provides insurance to help reduce the impact of floods for individuals and communities.
