Micro transit is a curb-to-curb ride share service similar to Uber or Lyft that is run by the MetroWest Regional Transit Authority (MWRTA). Micro transit works with the existing public transportation infrastructure such as train and bus services to help solve first-mile, last-mile service gaps and provide ride share service in and around Wellesley.
This MWRTA service is called Catch Connect and is available by using the MWRTA Catch App on a smartphone. Use the app anywhere in Wellesley to catch the bus to destinations including the following locations outside Wellesley:
- Newton Wellesley Hospital
- Woodland and Waban MBTA stations
- Natick Community Center
- Volante Farms, Needham
- Trader Joe's, Needham
Catch Connect service is first-come, first-served; trips can be booked when the customer is ready. Wait times for pick up average between 10 - 30 minutes, but may be more at peak times. Service hours are 6:45 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. Monday through Friday. All vehicles are fully accessible.
If you do not have a smartphone, you can still access the Catch Connect by contacting the MWRTA customer service center at 508-283-5083.
Fare Collection
Fares for Catch Connect service are effective beginning on May 1, 2023 and will be a flat fee of $2.00/ride. Riders can access payment options with a "Catch Card" that is tied into the MWRTA Catch App. For more information on Catch Connect fares visit the MWRTA fare information webpages. Please note: The MWRTA will no longer be accepting payments by Charlie Card.
After booking a trip through the Catch app, fares will be deducted from the rider account once the trip is completed. Riders who book Catch Connect trips over the phone will need to set up an account with the MWRTA and pre-load funds onto that account.
