Getting Around Wellesley and Beyond
With MWRTA (MetroWest Regional Transit Authority) transit service and three regional rail stops, Wellesley has lots of car-free options to get around town, into Boston, and out to Worcester. The MWRTA buses and Catch Connect are FREE until July 2025.
Fares for the MBTA Commuter Rail are best paid using the "mTICKET" app. Tickets can be preloaded using a credit or debit card. The "mTICKET" is only for the commuter rail. If you are also riding the "T" or MBTA bus, the CharlieTICKET can be preloaded for all three modes of transportation.

Catch Connect is ideal for first and last commuter rides to/from the MBTA T Stops and the Regional Rail Stations and it's FREE! Catch Connect is a curb-to-curb micro transit system. Trips can be anywhere in Wellesley and to/from Woodland and Waban MBTA Greenline T Stations, Needham Heights Commuter Rail Station, Newton Wellesley Hospital, and the Natick Community Center. Trips must be booked when the customer is ready and are provided on a first come, first served basis. Visit the Catch Connect website for more details.
Metrowest Regional Transit Agency (MWRTA) Route 1
The Metrowest Regional Transit Agency (MWRTA) Route 1 bus serves Wellesley between the Natick Mall and the Woodland MBTA T Station. And it's FREE! The route is a flag down system. Stand at the curb, visible to the driver, and wave. The Route 1 bus follows a fixed route, leaving the Natick Mall, running along Route 9, passing through Wellesley Square, Babson College, Mass Bay College, Wellesley Lower Falls, and ending at the Woodland MBTA T Green Line Station. Council on Aging (COA)
The COA provides transportation on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays to Wellesley seniors to locations within Wellesley and nearby medical offices and hospitals. Reservations must be made in advance with the MWRTA. Visit the COA Transportation webpage for details.
Wellesley Trails
Wellesley has a total of 47 miles of trails marked with color-coded arrow markers. The Brook Path is an ADA-compliant, stone-dust path which parallels Washington Street and is easily accessible from the multiple cross streets. Visit the Trails Committee webpage for maps and guides.
Paratransit - ADA Ride
Transportation is provided by the MWRTA for people with disabilities as qualified by the American with Disabilities Act (ADA). Under the ADA, the MWRTA offers service to residents who are unable to independently access the fixed route bus system. The MetroWest Ride is an origin-to-destination ride share service; trips are reserved through the MWRTA call center at (508) 820-4560. You MUST apply for service. You and your Healthcare Provider will need to complete application. Visit the MWRTA website for the application.
MWRTA Hospital Shuttle
The MetroWest Regional Transit Authority (MWRTA) provides a Boston Hospital Shuttle service to the West Roxbury and the Jamaica Plain VA facilities, New England Baptist Hospital, Brigham & Women's Hospital, Beth Israel Hospital, Dana Farber Medical Center, Joslin Clinic, and New England Deaconess Hospital.
The Boston Hospital Shuttle operates Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 8:30 AM - 6:00 PM, and is open to anyone wishing to go to any of the listed hospitals. Wellesley residents have the option of being picked up and dropped off at home.
The hospital shuttle is NOT a flag down system. Boston Hospital Shuttle riders MUST fill out the registration form and set up a fare account, prior to using the service. Catch Connect to Newton Wellesley Hospital
The Catch Connect provides service from a Wellesley address to Newton Wellesley Hospital. This is a micro-transit service. Rides are first come , first serve and as such rides cannot be scheduled or reserved. Allow ample time to call for vehicle if you are going for an appointment. COA Council on Aging
COA provides transportation on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday to Wellesley Seniors to Newton-Wellesley Hospital (Newton), Newton-Wellesley Psychiatry (Newton), MetroWest Medical Center (Natick), Mass General Brigham Urgent Care (Natick), Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital (Needham). Chestnut Street Doctor’s Offices and Beth Israel Deaconess Health Care Family Medicine (Needham). Reservations must be made in advance. Visit the COA Transportation website for details.

American Cancer Society - The Road to Recovery Program
The Road to Recovery Program provides transportation to/from treatment for people with cancer who do not have a ride or are unable to drive themselves. Please call 800-227-2345 or visit the American Cancer Society website for further details.
MassHealth Transportation Services
MassHealth members who need non-emergency transportation for medical appointments may be eligible for free transportation services. For more information, call (617) 847-3427 or visit the Massachusetts State Health Care Transportation website.
Your Health Insurance
Your health insurance provider may cover non-emergency medical transportation by request. Sometimes your doctor may have to complete paperwork, or it might be included as part of your plan. If you are on Medicare, Medicare Advantage plans are more likely to have this benefit. Please call the customer service number for your health insurer to ask about rides to your doctor.
Take the Train to Boston or Worcester
Ride the train to Boston or to Worcester from one of Wellesley's three train stations on the Framingham-Worcester line. Wellesley offers ample parking in municipal lots. Take the "T"
The Green Line subway runs into Boston and connects to the Red and Blue Lines The Woodland and Waban Greenline T stations are easily accessible by Catch Connect, MWRTA Route #1, and by car. Parking is available at both the Waban (limited) and Woodland Stations. For information on the Greenline and the MBTA system. Visit the MBTA website.
Regional Rail to Back Bay Logan Express to the Logan Airport Terminals
Ride the train from one of Wellesley's three regional rails to Back Bay Station and hop on the Back Bay Logan Express. Visit the MBTA Commuter Rail website for the train schedule and fares. Logan Express runs every half hour. Visit the Back Bay Logan Express for details.
Regional Rail to South Station to the Silver Line Route 1 to the Logan Airport Terminals.
Ride the train from one of Wellesley's three regional rails to South Station and hop on the Silver Line Route 1. Visit the MBTA Commuter Rail website for the train schedule and fares. The Silver Line Route 1 (SL1) run every 15 minutes. Visit the MBTA Silver Line website for more details.
Park and Ride at Logan Express Framingham

Mass Bay Wellesley Campus
The MWRTA bus stop for the Route 1 and the Riverside Shuttle is at the Main Lobby front door on the south side of 50 Oakland Street.
Mass Bay Riverside Shuttle
The Mass Bay Riverside shuttle operated by the MWRTA provides service between Mass Bay Wellesley and the MBTA Riverside Green Line "T" Station runs when the college is in session. Visit the MWRTA Shuttle web page for the schedule. This route has only two stops: Riverside Station and Mass Bay. The shuttle is open to anyone and is not a flag-down route .
Mass Bay Campus Shuttle
The Mass Bay Campus Shuttle runs between the Wellesley and Framingham campuses when college is in session. Visit the Shuttle web page for the schedule.
Babson College
The MWRTA Route 1 stops at the Knight Parking Lot outside Knight auditorium.
Wellesley College
The MWRTA Route 1 runs along the eastern end of campus. The bus can be flagged down on Weston Road or students can alight at the designated stop on Cross Street.
