Financial Incentives

Vehicles registered in the Town of Wellesley account for 32% of Wellesley's greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The Municipal Light Plant offers the following programs to encourage its customers to electrify their personal vehicles:

  • A $250 rebate for a  permanent (i.e., not temporary or mobile) Level 2 charger installed in the home (maximum of 2 rebates per customer account every 10 years).  Participation in the WMLP's BYOC program is required;
    • Update: $125 for EV chargers purchased 1/1/26 or later 
  • In exchange for a monthly $8 bill credit, a "Bring Your Own Charger" (BYOC) program that requires participants to charge their electric vehicles during the off-peak hours of between 10 pm and 12 noon on weekdays and all hours on weekends.; and
  • In partnership with Energy New England, a "WattPlan" tool to compare electric vehicles.
