Weston Road Reconstruction

The Department of Public Works (DPW) Engineering Division began major reconstruction of Weston Road in WestonRoad_LookingNorthAtWorcesterStreetMay 2025 from Worcester Street (Route 9) to the Weston town line. This planned capital project includes a new water main replacement between Boulder Brook Road and the Weston town line, new drainage replacement, new sidewalks and wheelchair ramps, new curbing, new roadway surface and pavement markings, new pedestrian crossing lights and speed awareness radars. The project will require additional work extending the existing sidewalk on the north side of Mayo Road.

The reconstruction will take one year to complete with a winter hiatus from late November 2025 to mid-April 2026. Work will be fully complete by June 2026. Updates on the project progress will be regularly shared with the community.

Current Work

The roadway milling and subbase paving work from Boulder Brook (Rt 9 ramp) to the Weston Town line was completed last week. Temporary line striping for the travel lanes and crosswalks has been installed. The project is now transitioning over to granite curbing installation and sidewalk reconstruction work which will take place over the next several weeks. We anticipated majority of the curbing and sidewalk work to be completed before the winter moratorium begins in mid-November.

Road users and residents should expect isolated lane closures over the next several weeks. Please anticipate traffic delays and allow extra travel time or use alternative routes if possible. Police details will be present to help with vehicle and pedestrian traffic.

Weston Road is Now Open

Following a week of milling and paving work, Weston Road reopened on Friday, October 3 to all traffic. Additional sidewalk and curbing work is planned for the fall, but this will not require complete closures. Drivers can expect occasional delays but the road will remain open in both directions.

DPW staff and Wellesley Police Department details will be on-site throughout the construction to assist as needed. Read a list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about the construction.
