The Wellesley Board of Public Works (BPW) is seeking an interim board member to serve until March 2026.
The ideal candidate is someone who is an infrastructure advocate interested in joining a Board that prides itself on providing excellent experiences across multiple critical services to Wellesley residents.
Other desirable strengths include:
- Someone who values the mission and guiding principles of the Wellesley DPW, including providing essential, emergency, and maintenance services to protect and improve the Town's assets and infrastructure for the safety and well-being of the community.
- A strong collaborator with experience in Town of Wellesley affairs, and an understanding of how to navigate our distributed form of local government.
- A strong background in finance is especially helpful, as is experience with sustainability and infrastructure.
BPW members are dedicated volunteers who establish and update policies; create, review, and/or refine plans; develop, review, approve, and advocate for the DPW budgets; oversee the Water, Sewer, and Stormwater enterprises; and communicate and promote the DPW’s mission, goals, and objectives to the broader community.
BPW members also serve on the Wellesley Municipal Light Board, and help ensure its safe, reliable, and sustainable operations.
In addition to attending monthly Board meetings, BPW members attend Town meetings and typically spend several hours per week on Board assignments.
The interim member will serve until the March 2026 Annual Town Election and can choose to run for the remaining two-year term for this open seat.
To apply, please send an email of interest with the subject line “BPW open seat” to dpw@wellesleyma.gov by 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 26, 2025.
