Medical Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) allow you to put aside money pre-tax to pay for qualified medical expenses. Individuals will able to contribute a maximum of $3,300 to a Medical FSA for the FY26 benefit year and will be allowed to roll-over any unused funds (up to a maximum of $660) into the new plan year providing they re-enroll in a Medical FSA for the upcoming benefit year starting on 7/1.
Reminder - Employees selecting a Benchmark Medical plan through the Town of Wellesley are eligible additional FSA funds from the Town of up to $150 for an individual plan and up to $450 for a family plan. The funds from the Town are matching funds which means that a contribution from the employee must be made in order to get the match. For example, an employee with an individual Benchmark plan who contributes $50 toward a Medical FSA will get a matching contribution from the Town of $50.

Medical FSA accounts cannot be used in conjunction with a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP). Employees choosing a HDHP can use an HSA to reimburse for medical and dental expenses. FSA accounts can be used in conjunction with the Town HRA plan. Be advised that any reimbursement obtained through the HRA plan cannot be duplicated with reimbursement requested through your FSA plan. (ex: if the total amount of what you are seeking reimbursement for is $60, you cannot be reimbursed more than $60 between the HRA and the FSA for the same visit)
The FSA benefit year goes from 7/1-6/30. In order to continue contributing to an FSA past 6/30, you MUST re-enroll in this benefit during the open enrollment period (generally during the month of April).
