The Wellesley Fire Department's annual Thanksgiving dinner for local seniors was reimagined this year to keep our most vulnerable residents safe.
This beloved Town event took place on Saturday, November 21.
Instead of the regular in-person gathering, traditional Thanksgiving dinners were prepared and safely packaged by Roche Bros. in Wellesley. Firefighters, their families, Town officials, and volunteers delivered the meals to seniors in their homes during lunchtime.
Remarks by Fire Chief Rick DeLorie, a safety presentation by Lt. Paul Delaney, and other program activities were pre-recorded and broadcast on Wellesley Media for seniors to watch while enjoying their meal.
Nearly 180 participants enjoyed dinner while staying safely at home. This is the 54th year in a row for the event.
