The Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority (MBTA) wants feedback from Wellesley residents on proposed service cuts.
Due to low ridership and a budget deficit, the MBTA will move to "basic service" beginning in 2021. Specific details on the service cuts are explained in the T's "Forging Ahead" plan.
The plan will protect essential service for those riders who depend on it, and reduce service where there are fewer riders. These cuts may impact service in Wellesley.
While the cuts are intended to be temporary, feedback from riders is critical to helping the MBTA prioritize what service options to bring back when ridership and revenue improves. These include:
- Restoring evening service
- Restoring weekend service
- Investing in new connections and service, based on the T's "Rail Vision" plan
Residents can give feedback on these changes via the MBTA feedback form or by emailing publicengagement@mbta.com
Feedback must be received by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, December 4, 2020.
