The Wellesley Police Department is currently seeking applicants for the Town of Wellesley Emergency Communication Center (ECC). The ECC, located at the Wellesley Police Department, dispatches the Wellesley Police Department, Wellesley Fire Department, as well as EMS calls for service. Dispatchers work a four day on, two day off rotating schedule on one of three assigned shifts (12 AM-8:30 AM 8 AM-4:30 PM, and 4PM-12:30 AM).

Dispatcher responsibilities include receiving, dispatching and recording telephone and radio communications, and NCIC and LEAPS communications according to FCC and department. regulations. Dispatches vehicles to calls for assistance. Keeps police and fire personnel informed of all facts affecting safety or the efficiency of their responses to the call. Performs all other duties as assigned. Performs typing and clerical functions. Must be able to work any of three scheduled shifts. Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent and the ability to type 35 wpm. Public safety dispatching knowledge of E-911 and computer aided dispatching preferred. The anticipated hiring range is $22.642 - $24.846/hour and the position has full benefits (which includes health and dental insurance, vacation, sick time, retirement plan, etc.).
