Reduce electricity use when it matters most!
Peak electricity use for the year is forecast to occur today, July 29, and tomorrow, July 30, between the hours of 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm.
Raise your thermostat a few degrees; turn off your air conditioner when leaving the house; and avoid running your dishwasher and dryer during peak usage hours.
Helping Wellesley "Shave the Peak" saves money, protects the environment and promotes electric grid stability.
Electricity demand is highest in summer months and is at its most expensive and dirtiest during peak demand hours.
The Town's Sustainable Energy Committee (SEC) is encouraging Wellesley community members to conserve energy, especially on peak energy use days, and to sign up for Shave the Peak alerts from the Green Energy Consumer Alliance at this link: https://www.greenenergyconsumers.org/shavethepeak.
Texts from Shave the Peak let you know the days and hours during which projected electricity demand is at its highest.
