[ARCHIVED] Run for Local Office in Wellesley

Are you interested in running for a local government office in the Town of Wellesley? 

Nomination papers are available in the Town Clerk's office for anyone interested in running for a town-wide office or for a Town Meeting Member position. Candidates seeking a town-wide office must pick up nomination papers by Friday, January 11 at 5 P.M. The deadline to pick up papers for a Town Meeting Member position is Friday, January 25 at 5 P.M. All candidates must be Wellesley residents. 

Wellesley has 11 Boards and Committees whose members elected at the Annual Town Election. This year’s election date is March 5, 2019. The majority of board and committee members are elected each year for staggered three year terms; representatives to the Planning and Housing boards serve for five year terms. 

Wellesley also has a Town Meeting representative form of government with 240 members elected by voting precinct. Town Meeting Members have staggered three year terms with 10 members elected each year from each precinct. Town Meeting meets annually during the months of March and April to vote on operating budgets, capital expenditures and bylaws for the town. Additional Special Town Meetings may be scheduled if warranted.
