[ARCHIVED] Wellesley's Wonderful Weekend is May 18 & 19

Mark your calendars! Wellesley's Wonderful Weekend 2024 is Saturday, May 18 and Sunday, May 19. 

This annual event is organized by the Wellesley Celebrations Committee and features a schedule that's packed with family-friendly activities highlighting Town departments and community organizations. 

The theme this year is the 200th Anniversary of Modern Battlefield Medicine Advancements. 

Throughout the week, see historical displays at the Wellesley Free Library highlighting battlefield medicine and attend a presentation, "From Battlefield to Operating Room," on Wednesday, May 15 featuring  keynote speakers Retired Brigadier General Dr. Andrea Gayle Bennett,  Deputy Secretary, Executive Office of Veterans Services, and Retired U.S. Army Major Dr. Brian O'Connor, MASH physician, Operation Desert Storm. 

Other weekend highlights include the following events. 

Saturday, May 18

  • Living History at Morton Park Field. 10 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. 1800s Royal Irish Artillery & Hubbardston Militia Company field hospital display
  • Pancake Festival at Wellesley High School, 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. 
  • DPW "Touch a Truck," 9:00 a.m. - Noon, 20 Municipal Way (*Note: 11:00 a.m. - Noon will be a noise-free sensory hour)
  • Waban Arches-Guernsey Sanctuary Guided Trail Walk, 9:00 a.m. - 10:15 a.m., Wellesley Trails Committee 
  • Wellesley Municipal Light Plant Open House, 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., 4 Municipal Way
  • Wellesley Fire Station #2 Open House, 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., 457 Worcester Street
  • Grand Opening of Hunnewell School & Community Tours, 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., 28 Cameron Street 
  • Wellesley Police Department Open House, 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., 485 Washington Street
  • Wellesley Council on Aging Open House, Noon -3:00 p.m., 500 Washington Street
  • Art in the Park, Noon - 2:00 p.m., Simons Park
  • Pups in the Park, 1:00 p.m. -3:00 p.m., Hunnewell Field 
  • Build Your Own Troll & Fairy House, 1:00 p.m. -3:00 p.m., Crosstown Trail parking area (49 Russell Road)
  • Veterans Ecumenical Memorial Mass at St. Paul's Church, 4:00 p.m., 502 Washington Street 

Sunday, May 19

  • Guided Bird Walk at Morses Pond, 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m., Meet at Turner Road gate
  • Wheels of Wellesley XI Antique Car Show, 9:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., Central Street
  • 56th Annual Veterans Parade, 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m., Washington Street
  • Picnic in the Park at Hunnewell Field, 4:30 p.m.
  • Concert for Wellesley at Hunnewell Field, 6:00 p.m. 
  • Fireworks! Dusk
