Clean up continues in Wellesley after today's severe weather that resulted in significant road flooding, downed trees and wires, power outages, and damage to homes and property.
Damage to a transformer caused power outages at 888 Worcester Street, the temporary location for Town Hall departments. The Wellesley Free Library, some Wellesley Public Schools locations, and multiple neighborhoods also experienced temporary power outages due to fallen trees that took down utility lines.
As of 5:00 p.m. on December 18, Wellesley Municipal Light Plant (WMLP) crews are continuing to make repairs and restore electric service to the following areas:
- Arnold Road. Estimated restore time is 7:00 p.m.
- Livingston Road / Winding River Road areas. Estimated restore time is 7:00 p.m.
- Ware Land Road / Grantland Road areas. Estimated restore time is 8:00 p.m.
- Miscellaneous small outages. Estimated restore time is 10:00 p.m.
Heavy rains resulted in severe flooding along Route 9 and Route 16 which were closed due to dangerous and impassable road conditions. A number of side roads were also temporarily closed.
Wellesley Public Works and Municipal Light Plant crews, Police and Fire officials worked throughout the day to clear debris and reopen roads. Most roads have reopened and clean up will continue throughout tonight and into tomorrow.
