The Wellesley Municipal Light Plant (WMLP) is alerting residents to prep for a peak in demand for electricity on Thursday, July 27 and Friday, July 28 between 5:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
This anticipated peak is due to the extremely high temperatures predicted for both days.
WMLP customers are urged to voluntarily cut back energy usage during this time. This does not mean there is a shortage of electricity. However, reducing electricity demand during the peak period will help reduce both energy costs and greenhouse gas emissions.
Ways to reduce electric use include turning up air conditioners a few degrees, turning off car chargers, dehumidifiers, pool filters, clothes dryers, and any other unnecessary appliances.
The peak period is expected to pass by 9:00 p.m. on both days and you can resume normal use.
Thank you for your cooperation in the coming days.
