The annual Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk to benefit Dana Farber Cancer Institute is this weekend.
Residents can expect increased pedestrian and vehicle traffic along Washington Street and near Wellesley High School.
This is the first time in two years the walk returns to the Boston Marathon course. During the pandemic, most walkers participated virtually, in their own neighborhoods.
During the day on Saturday, October 1 at WHS, event volunteers will be setting up a portion of the parking lot and walkers will be registering and picking up materials. On Sunday, October 2, individuals participating in the half-marathon walk will start at WHS between 8:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. Shuttle buses will transport walkers to the starting area.
In addition to the Jimmy Fund Walk, high school and youth football games will be taking place at the football stadium and Hunnewell Field on Saturday and Sunday.
Wellesley Police Department officers will be assisting with traffic on both days.
