The Wellesley Police Department recently promoted Officer Janet Popovski to Detective, assigned to the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI).
Detective Popovski began her career in 1997 working in College Law Enforcement, as well as part time in a municipal police agency. She joined the Wellesley Police Department in 2006 as a police officer.
Detective Popovski has worked on various projects and in the patrol division since joining Wellesley. Detective Popovski was an instrumental figure when the department sought to obtain certification, and subsequently accreditation, from the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission. Detective Popovski continues to work on accreditation, ensuring that the department meets and exceeds the requirements to maintain the best practices and standards required by commission.
Detective Popovski has previously worked in BCI during temporary duty assignments. She is fluent in Portuguese, and holds a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice.
