Wellesley's Wonderful Weekend 2022 is planned for May 20-22. The town-wide event is hosted by the Wellesley Celebrations Committee with the support of numerous town, school, and volunteer organizations.
Weekend festivities include family activities, the 54th Annual Veterans Parade, town picnic, concert in the park, the traditional fireworks display at Hunnewell Field, and more. The complete schedule is available on the Wellesley's Wonderful Weekend website.
This year, the Annual Veterans Parade on Sunday, May 22 at 1:00 p.m. will honor any current and former Wellesley residents who are Purple Heart recipients. This year's parade theme marks the "90th Anniversary of the Purple Heart."
The Purple Heart medal is a U.S. military decoration that is awarded by the President of the United States to service men and women who were wounded or killed while serving our Country.
The Celebrations Committee is seeking nominations for Purple Heart honorees for the parade. The committee is also looking for volunteers and convertible cars to drive honorees in the parade.
Donations to help support Wellesley's Wonderful Weekend may be made online through the Wellesley Recreation Department or by a check payable to the Town of Wellesley.
