[ARCHIVED] Employment Opportunity: Police/Fire Dispatcher

FULL-TIME DISPATCHER: TOWN OF WELLESLEY POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENT COMMUNICATION CENTER

The Wellesley Police Department is seeking a full time dispatcher for our combined Police and Fire Emergency Communication Center (ECC).  Dispatchers work an 8.5 hour shift, on a four day on, two day off rotating schedule.  There are opportunities for overtime, and earning compensatory time off as well.  Each shift has two dispatchers working in a newly renovated, state of the art dispatch center at the Wellesley Police station.  Dispatchers receive calls for service from the public, and then send the appropriate Police, Fire, and ambulance response.  All Wellesley 9-1-1 calls for services are received and processed at the Emergency Communication Center.

This is a great opportunity for anyone looking to explore a career in public safety, either at an entry level or for a career.  Many Wellesley dispatchers have gone on to become successful police officers and firefighters, both in Wellesley and the surrounding communities.  Several members of our current dispatch staff have more than ten years experience in Wellesley.  While previous experience is preferred, finding the right candidate for our dispatch center and our community is the priority. The Wellesley Police Department will provide all training for new dispatchers.  Continuing education is also supplied as are additional training opportunities throughout your career.
