The Advisory Committee will hold a virtual public hearing on Wednesday, February 2 at 7:00 p.m.
Committee members will be discussing the proposed articles on the 2022 Annual Town Meeting warrant. The hearing will be live streamed on Wellesley Public Media.
Residents are invited to take part and share comments. If you would like to participate, please email advisorycommittee@wellesleyma.gov prior to the public hearing and indicate the warrant article number on which you would like to speak.
The 2022 Annual Town Meeting warrant has 49 articles that will be considered and voted on by Town Meeting members. Some of the highlights include:
- Funding to lease office space for specific Town departments as part of the the Wellesley Town Hall Interior Renovation project
- Funding to redo the Wellesley Communications Center radio tower at the Wellesley Police Department
- Funding repairs for Walnut Street
- Funding improvements to the Wellesley Middle School parking lot
- Funding the installation of LED lighting fixtures at Wellesley High School
- Modifying the Special Act to allow one-day licenses to serve alcohol at for-profit enterprises and within public rights of ways in commercial districts
- A number of zoning articles that include: Adding a provision for accessory dwelling units (ADUs) to help meet Wellesley's housing goals; amending bylaw provisions that regulate locations for commercial gun shops; amending the Town's sign bylaw; and other modifications.
The warrant also includes two citizen petitions. One advises the School Committee and Superintendent of Schools to prioritize academic excellence, and the other seeks to rezone portions of Worcester Street.
Wellesley's Annual Town Meeting is scheduled to begin on Monday, March 28, 2022.
