MassBay Community College (50 Oakland Street) will hold a second meeting with the Wellesley community to discuss proposed future developments on the campus.
College president Dr. David Podell will share plans to construct the MassBay Center for Cybersecurity Education, Health, and Wellness. To fund this project, MassBay will make a parking lot available for sale to support housing development.
The proposal is coming forward under the Affordable Homes Act which allows the Commonwealth to buy the land and consider request proposals to build housing at a minimum density of four units per acre.
The Affordable Homes Act prohibits cities and towns from imposing restrictions on the development of housing.
The community meeting is:
- Wednesday, October 8 at 6:00 p.m. in the MassBay Library Atrium (2nd floor); light refreshments will be served.
The program will include presentations from the Massachusetts Department of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance (DCAMM) and from the Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities (EOHLC).
Following the brief presentations, audience members will be welcome to ask questions. Comment on the proposal by emailing realestate.dcamm@mass.gov or using the State comment form.
Comments may also be emailed to OaklandStreet@wellesleyma.gov and will be shared with DCAMM.
