Here is some key information for Wellesley for the week of July 14, 2025.

Volunteers Needed for the Wellesley Affordable Housing Trust 
The Wellesley Housing Development Corporation will be replaced by the new Wellesley Affordable Housing Trust (WAHT) in fall 2025. This action was approved by 2025 Annual Town Meeting. The mission of the WAHT is to provide for the creation and preservation of affordable housing in Wellesley for the benefit of low- and moderate-income households. with a particular focus on assisting the Town and other public agencies, including the Wellesley Housing Authority. The Select Board is looking for interested volunteers to serve on the WAHT Board of Trustees.

Health Department Tick & Mosquito Safety
Exposure to ticks and tick bites are higher than usual this summer, with emergency rooms reporting increased visits for tick bites. Health officials are reminding residents to take precautions when outdoors to avoid tick bites, especially during yard work and clean up. Read tips on protecting yourself from ticks. And know the signs of Lyme disease. Likewise, take precautions to protect yourself from mosquito bites by wearing insect repellant and staying inside during dawn and dusk when mosquitoes are most active. Cases of mosquito-borne illnesses such at West Nile Virus (WNV) and Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) have been reported in the Commonwealth, but NOT in Wellesley. Fire Department Shares Grill Safety Tips
Summer is a popular season for grilling outdoors. The Wellesley Fire Department is reminding residents to follow some common sense tips when grilling with gas or charcoal to help prevent accidents and fires. Read grill safety tips. 

Enjoy Free Parking & Sidewalk Sales at July Jubilation! 
Support Wellesley Square merchants during July Jubilation 2025 on Saturday, July 19 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Central Street is closed down for this annual summer tradition! Park for free in municipal lots and at bagged 2-hour meters, and enjoy special discounts from local merchants, live performances, and a dunk tank and fire safety education from the Wellesley Fire Department. Speak with Select Board vice chair Tom Ulfelder on Tuesday, July 15 between 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. in-person at Town Hall. Email Tom directly at tulfelder@wellesleyma.gov to sign up for a 15-minute appointment. Office hours will be held in the Upper Conference Room, 3rd floor.
