With the warmer weather, more people are out enjoying Wellesley's parks and trails.
The Natural Resources Commission (NRC), Select Board, Wellesley Police Department, and Wellesley Public Schools are reminding all users to be respectful and cautious.
If you're riding a bicycle, e-bike, or motorized scooter, please watch for pedestrians, know the local regulations, and responsibly share the roads, sidewalks, and trails.
All cyclists are expected to follow traffic rules.
Massachusetts state law requires those age 16 and younger to wear helmets when biking, and a white front light and red rear light are needed after dark. If a road feels unsafe, bicyclists may ride on sidewalks, but must WALK bikes in all commercial areas.
No e-bikes and e-scooters are permitted on Wellesley fields or natural trails. New signs are being installed in key locations to remind cyclists to share the paths and NOT ride e-bikes on trails.
Information and safety tips for the proper use of e-bikes and e-scooters is posted on the Town of Wellesley website.
Please report any concerning or dangerous e-bike or e-scooter behavior to the Wellesley Police Department at 781-235-1212.
