On November 18, 2024, at approximately 6:18 p.m. the Wellesley Emergency Communications Center received a residential burglar alarm for a home on Livingston Road. As Officers Collins and Harris arrived at the residence, they interrupted a breaking and entering in progress and encountered two individuals. These individuals jumped from the house on a landing between the first and second floor, subsequently fleeing on foot into a wooded area.
Several Officers and Detectives from the Wellesley Police Department, Dover, Needham, Wellesley College and Massachusetts State Police responded to assist in searching the area. At approximately 7:00 p.m. a resident reported seeing a male party running through their yard on Longmeadow Road. Lt. Jeff Renzella encountered the male party, later identified as Pedro Salgado of Denver Colorado, on Dover Road at Longmeadow Road. Mr. Salgado was wearing clothing that matched the description provided by Officer Collins who initially saw the suspects. He was taken into custody and transported to the Wellesley Police Department for processing. Mr. Salgado will be arraigned at Dedham District Court Tuesday, November 19, 2024 for breaking and entering (at night) into a dwelling and possession of burglarious tools.
Officers continued to search the area for the second individual with the assistance of two Massachusetts State Police K9 dogs, as well as a helicopter from the Airwing. Two drones were also deployed by the Dover and Wellesley Police Departments to assist with the search of the area.
After an extensive search of the surrounding neighborhoods officers determined the second suspect had fled the area. Detectives and officers remained in the area to process evidence that had been recovered from multiple areas.
The Wellesley Police Department would like to encourage residents to report any suspicious activity to the Emergency Communications Center by calling 9-1-1. The Wellesley Police Department would like to thank the Dover Police Department Drone Unit, Needham Police, Wellesley College Police as well as the Massachusetts State Police Airwing and K9 units for the their assistance during the search.
The incident remains under investigation and no further information is available at this time.
