Wellesley Public Schools (WPS) students head back to school on Wednesday, August 30.
The first day of school for elementary students (grades K-5) will be a half-day with a noon dismissal. Wellesley Middle School and Wellesley High School students will follow a full day schedule, with WHS upper class students (grades 10-12) arriving at 11:00 a.m. to allow for freshman orientation in the morning.
Town and School officials encourage families to try alternative transportation options to school. Please watch for students and their parents biking, scootering, and walking to school in the coming days.
If you drive to school please follow posted signs, especially for drop off and pick up, and expect heavier traffic volume near school buildings.
The 2023-2024 school year is expected to be a busy one as progress continues on Wellesley's two major school building projects.
Work at Hunnewell Elementary School is now focused on the interior of the building, and exterior work is quickly moving forward at Hardy Elementary School. Both new schools are expected to open in time for the start of the 2024-2025 school year.
Thank you to all of the outstanding WPS educators and staff for the work they do with the children and families in our community. Wishing everyone a great school year!
