The intersection at Cross and Central Streets will be closing next weekend, Friday, June 3, 2022 through the summer season for the construction and implementation of a temporary public event space in Wellesley Square. Vehicles looking to access Church Street or Cross Street can enter via Washington Street, Abbott Street, or Weston Road.
The new community event space will be open to the public for gatherings through the summer and will be reevaluated prior to September 1, 2022. There will be amenities for individuals (all ages) and groups to gather and enjoy Wellesley Square, such as tables, chairs, umbrellas, yard games, swing and Adirondack chairs. Implementation should be finalized by mid-June, as needed materials are delivered and installed.
