Wellesley Reduces Drought Status to Level 0 — Normal.  Outdoor Watering Restrictions Lifted

One-day per week watering restrictions are no longer in effect.  The Massachusetts Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA) Secretary has declared that the Southeast Region has returned  to Level 0 – Normal Conditions, after several months of steady rainfall and improved groundwater levels.

Although restrictions have now been lifted, the Water & Sewer Division continues to encourage smart water use to help conserve resources, reduce energy costs, and promote long-term sustainability.

We encourage everyone to take advantage of our online Water Customer Portal, a free tool that allows customers to:

• Track daily and hourly water use

• Set up leak alerts and high-use notifications

• Compare usage to similar households

• Learn personalized ways to save water

To register, visit https://wellesleyma.gov/1867/Water-Customer-Portal and create your account using your Wellesley water account number.

We thank all residents and businesses for their continued cooperation and commitment to protecting Wellesley’s drinking water resources.

For more information, please contact the Wellesley Water & Sewer Division at (781) 235-7600 or visit www.wellesleyma.gov/water.

Customer Alert!

The Water & Sewer Division has been informed that some Wellesley customers have received solicitation notices from private companies offering maintenance and inspection services. The Town of Wellesley is not affiliated with nor sponsoring these services.

Homeowners are responsible for the maintenance and repairs of water and sewer connections from the foundation of their property to the main sewer connection or water curb stop.

If a problem occurs with your service, please contact the Town for assistance. We can aid in determining the most appropriate solution, which may include Town assistance with repairs or replacement (at the owner’s expense), or finding a reputable private contractor.

If you have  concerns about the legitimacy of a business or the type of service they are offering, please reach out to the Wellesley Department of Public Works at 781-235-7600 or via email at dpw@wellesleyma.gov.

 WATER METER UPGRADE PROGRAM

Help Prevent Sewer Backups

Flushing wipes, paper towels and similar products down toilets will clog sewers, cause backups and overflows with internal plumbing and within the Town system.  Even wipes labeled as "flushable" will clog pipes and interfere with the sewer collection system and pumps. Please dispose of these items in the trash.

 Please NEVER Flush:

  • Paper towels, disposable wipes, washcloths and rags
  • Any synthetic materials such as plastic, which do not decompose or dissolve
  • Feminine products
  • Cotton balls or cotton swabs
  • Unused medication or syringes
  • Fats, oils and grease
