The School Committee is re-introducing its newsletter this school year. Our hope is this will give community members a quick overview of what occurred at each meeting. Please email us with your thoughts and suggestions.

September 3, 2024, School Committee Meeting Key Points:

The school year kicked off on 8/28! In addition, the new Hardy School opened successfully and on time! The School Committee and Dr. Lussier would like to thank everyone across all departments in town who had a hand in opening Hardy School and all of the schools for the 24/25 school year.

Dr. Lussier provided additional information about the opening of school as well as an update on enrollment. Opening of School Report and Enrollment Update.

The Academic Calendar Task Force: has three remaining meetings which will be held on 9/25, 10/9, and 10/24. A survey will be issued to the community in the coming days and a community forum will be held in mid-October. At the conclusion of these meetings, the Task Force will make a presentation to the School Committee and a vote will follow at a subsequent meeting.

Hunnewell Track and Field Projects Update:With the lights installed, sound installation in progress, and the majority of the Wetlands Protection Committee conditions met, Wellesley High School is getting ready to hold night games for the first time this Fall. The foundation has been laid for the Track and Field Concessions and Bathrooms, and the utilities connected. The buildings will arrive by year end. As for the Team Rooms, the Permanent Building Committee voted on 6/13/24 to proceed with a modular building and with DPW as the implementation partner. Weston & Sampson will be engaged to work on design and permitting, and to support the bidding process by modular vendors.

Vote Composting Bid: The School Committee voted to enter into an agreement with Black Earth Composting. Currently, composting occurs at WMS. This contract will allow the district to expand the composting program to WHS.
