Volunteers are essential to the day-to-day functioning of the COA. Volunteering is a fun way to connect with others and serve your community. We are currently recruiting for the following volunteer positions beginning in September:
1. Front Door Greeter
Greeters help support the smooth operation of the COA and enhance the social experience for those who visit the Tolles Parsons Center. Greeters welcome members and visitors, assist members with our sign-in kiosk as needed, and provide information and/or tours to newcomers. The volunteers are also trained to answer questions about programs and activities and provide direction to the rooms where various activities are held. Morning shifts are 9 am to Noon. Afternoon shifts are Noon to 3 pm.
Monday Afternoon, Noon to 3 pm beginning September 11th
Tuesday Afternoon, Noon to 3 pm beginning September 5th
Friday Afternoon, Noon to 3 pm beginning September 8th
2. Assist with Roche Bros Grocery Delivery
This position involves riding the COA Bus and helping the COA Bus Driver assist passengers getting off and on the bus for the weekly grocery shopping trips to Roche Brothers. The volunteer meets the bus at 9:50 am in the Roche Bros parking lot to pick up passengers who are done with their shopping. The volunteer also helps the passengers by bringing their groceries to their front door. Volunteers commit to a weekly schedule on either Wednesday or Friday mornings. Trips are typically completed by 12:30 pm.
Note: While we are looking for volunteers who can make a weekly recurring commitment, we understand life happens. We also have trained "floaters" to fill in for absences and just ask that volunteers give as much advance notice as possible.
If you or anyone you know may be interested in learning more about these positions, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator Sally Miller.
