Welcome to our first newsletter!
Starting this December, the Wellesley Health Department (WHD) will send out a newsletter the first week of each month with updated health info, planned programs including vaccination clinics, and more! Be sure to sign up to receive this newsletter at this link (scroll all the way down to News Flashes) and be sure to open your email. And, follow us on Twitter and Facebook for the latest news.
As a Wellesley resident, the words "Wellesley Health Department" may be familiar to you (especially after the previous two years!), but do you know what the Health Department actually does? You may be surprised to know our work goes far beyond Flu shots and contact tracing. For example, this year we inspected 48 summer camps and over 150 restaurants, swimming pools, tanning salons and permanent makeup artists. We run programming for community members from speaker series to CPR and even yoga! Our social work staff helps residents access resources related to mental health, financial needs, housing, employment, food insecurity and more.
Starting in January, we plan to highlight the work of each of our staff members to offer our community members the full picture of what the Health Department can offer. As always, we love to hear from you with questions, comments or ideas: email us at health@wellesleyma.gov.
