The Reopening Plan- May

We are entering into the second month of our reopening plan, which we are really excited about.  In April, we opened the Patio, started showing movies, and had Lois back in the building one day a week for IT assistance!  As we enter May, we will be adding: lunch on the Patio, activities on the Patio, and small facilitated discussion group meetings on the Patio.  Due to space constraints, our May programming options are currently restricted to Wellesley Residents over 60.  As we progress in our reopening plans as the months progress, we hope to invite all area seniors to join us for programming! All plans are contingent upon the continual progress of conditions related to COVID-19 and approval(s) by the Health Department.

At this time, this plan has been reviewed by the Director/Assistant Director, the Health Department, the Programming Working Group, and the COA Board.  We understand that there may continue to be frustrations as participants get vaccinated and everyone is eager to return to the building.  Please be assured that we are thinking everything through thoroughly and working to ensure continued and increasing service, while keeping everyone’s health and safety at the forefront.

May

Lunch on the Patio (Wellesley Residents Only)

Are you missing lunch at the Tolles Parsons Center?  Well, wait no longer!  Lunches are back in May.  We will be able to accommodate up to 10 people on the Patio each week. Due to space restrictions, we will be offering this program only to Wellesley Residents at this time.  We know this is not a large number, but, we hope to increase this over time.

When?

Lunch will be held once a week starting in May, on Wednesdays from 12:30 PM - 1:30 PM.

Where will we eat?
Lunch will be served on the patio.  The idea behind lunch is to provide a nice meal to our senior residents along with an opportunity for safe socialization.  In the event of anticipated inclement weather, staff will reach out by phone to let all lunch goers know that the Patio will be closed for lunch.  Instead, our bus driver's will deliver meals to each address signed-up for lunch.

What is the cost of Lunch?

All lunches must be prepaid at the time of ordering (credit card or check).  We have a sliding scale on the costs for lunches.  When you call to register, you will be asked if you would like to have your cost subsidized by the Friends of the WCOA, or if you would like to pay the full cost.  The full cost of lunch will be $10 and the subsidized cost of lunch will be $5.  If you have any financial concerns, please contact Kate at kburnham@wellesleyma.gov for assistance.  All financial transactions are kept private.

What is for Lunch?

The Menu for May will be:

5/5   North End Pizza, Greek Wrap w/ Chicken
5/12 Captain Marden's, Salmon Wrap w/ Cornbread & Coleslaw
5/19 Papa Razzi's, Eggplant Parm Sandwich w/Side Salad
5/26 Fiorella's, Caesar Salad w/Chicken

Will there be coffee to drink?
No.  At this time, we will be offering a bottle of water to each lunch goer upon arrival.

Where can I read more information about the re-opening plan?

If you are interested in seeing the most up-to-date plan, and/or looking further ahead at what we project, please check out the full plan click here.  As we progress forward, we will continue to keep the most up-to-date plan available on the main page of our website at www.wellesleycoa.org.  The plan is broken out by category: building access; Covid precautions; programming in-person; programming – remote; services- in-person; services – remote; and transportation.  In the plan, a colored-in space means the service/program is expected to be operating/in affect that month.  Numbers in parentheses indicate the maximum number of participants for that activity during that month.  Please note that while programs begin to slowly return to the TPC, most, if not all, of our programs will continue to be available as a remote option.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at (781) 235-3961 or click here to email us.
