We are excited to announce our collaboration with Regis College to offer more programs led by graduate students for the members of the Tolles Parsons Center. Please call us to register or sign up online for these events held on Fridays at 1:00 p.m. beginning September 11th for the next five weeks. We look forward to learning with Samantha and Erika as they bring these Health and Wellness Programs to us!

Different songs from the 50’s/60’s/70s will be played, and members will be able to sing, dance, and clap to the music. You will also have the chance to guess the name of the song and/or share what memories it brings back for you!
Week 2 (September 18 at 1:00 p.m.) : Mindfulness Breathing Exercises
Participants will be guided through different breathing exercises to promote relaxation, meditation, mood improvement, etc. Belly breathing, morning breathing, and roll breathing will be taught (with modifications where applicable).
Week 3: (September 25 at 1:00 p.m.): Stretching
Members will be guided through different stretches to promote range of motion, flexibility, circulation, coordination, reducing injury risk, etc. They will be initially instructed as standing, but will have ample modifications for sitting as well, in order to maximize safety and stability.
Week 4: (October 2): Strength and Balance
Participants will be guided through various low-impact strength and balance exercises. They will be suggested to have a chair nearby for any modification or energy conservation needs. This will promote coordination, fall prevention, increase in overall strength and balance, increase in cognition and confidence, etc. They will also be a conversation to discuss the importance, feedback in how they are feeling and comfortability and members will be encouraged to practice these methods throughout their daily life.
Week 5 (October 9 at 1:00 p.m.): Challenges for the Mind
The use of riddles, word games (ex. name 4 red objects with the first letter of your name), drawing challenges, etc. will be used to optimize mental clarity and good brain health. These games will help to improve processing speed, reaction time, short-term memory, decision making, general cognition, hand-eye coordination, and problem solving. Approximately 3-5 games will be played on this day and will be guided by the co-leaders.
