As part of a renegotiated five-year contract with the Town of Wellesley, Verizon customers can now watch local access TV on a new high definition (HD) channel.
Local programming is provided by Wellesley Public Media, which has been producing and broadcasting in HD for a few years. However until now, Verizon and Comcast have not offered an HD channel for Wellesley cable subscribers.
The new channel is 2139 and is available to all Verizon cable TV subscribers. Non HD programs are still available on Comcast channels 8 & 9 and Verizon channels 39 & 40.
Programming for channel 2139 includes government meetings, community programs, local sports and other informational broadcasts. Check the Wellesley Media TV guide for details.
