All members of the public ages 5 and up are now required to wear masks indoors in all Wellesley municipal buildings and offices, regardless of vaccination status.
This emergency order went into effect at 12:01 a.m. on September 1, 2021.
The Board of Health and the Select Board issued this joint order in response to the recent increase in the COVID-19 Delta Variant, which is significantly more transmissible.
This mask order includes but is not limited to Town Hall, Tolles Parsons Center, Warren Building, Police and Fire Departments, Department of Public Works, Municipal Light Plant, and the Wellesley Free Libraries. Masks will be provided to visitors who do not have one.
As an added safety measure, municipal employees are also required to wear masks when interacting with the public indoors. Unvaccinated employees are required to wear masks indoors at all times.
The emergency order does provide exceptions for individuals with medical conditions or communication disabilities, and when those wearing masks are eating and drinking during designated periods.
Wellesley Public Schools is also requiring that masks be worn inside all public school buildings.
Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our community safe and healthy.
