The Grove Street Reconstruction project is ongoing. The curbing work between Benvenue St and Spring St has been completed. The sidewalk work is ongoing between Beard Way and Spring St. and the contractor is presently installing concrete wheel chair ramps at all crosswalk locations within the street intersections. Once these ramps are completed the sidewalk will be repaved with a final top course.

Grove Street Reconstruction Project
Preparation for the Grove Street Reconstruction Project will begin on Monday, June 14, 2021 and the construction is expected to start July 1, 2021. The limits of the work will be from the Needham Town Line to 51 Grove Street, which is slightly short of Spring Street. The length of the project is 1¼ mile long.
A number of proposed improvements are included in the project. The Grove Street and Dover Road intersection will be realigned so that Dover Road intersects Grove Street almost perpendicularly, requiring vehicles approaching Grove Street from Dover Road to come to a full stop before entering Grove Street.
Work will also include the installation of granite and bituminous curbing, along with hot mix asphalt sidewalks, cement concrete wheelchair ramps to meet current ADA standards, modifications to the roadway drainage system, cross walks, and new signs. Other improvements are pavement milling and overlay and bicycle markings. The Town will construct a new sidewalk on the east side of Grove Street from Longmeadow Road to Beard Way
The work is being done by Lorusso Corporation and their subcontractors, under the direction of the Town of Wellesley Department of Public Works.
A majority of the construction work will take place Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Paving, milling and line-striping work will be performed between the hours of 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM sometime late summer or early fall. Police details will be onsite during the project to minimize impacts to traffic and other roadway functions. Two lane traffic will be maintained throughout the majority of the project, although, there may be lane closures and shifts to provide ample construction area for the contractor to perform the work. Night work will require roadway closures. For the safety of the roadway workers and to minimize traffic in the area, please consider using alternative routes during construction hours.
