Climate Action Committee

The Committee works with municipal departments, residents, businesses, institutions, and civic organizations to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote sustainability.

Wellesley has a goal adopted by Town Meeting in 2021 to reduce town-wide greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2050 with interim targets to reduce these emissions 50% below a 2007 baseline by 2030 and 75% below the 2007 baseline by 2040.  Wellesley's Climate Action Plan provides a roadmap for meeting these goals.

Wellesley met two previous town-wide greenhouse gas emissions reduction goals for 2013 (a 10% reduction below the 2007 baseline) and 2020 (a 25% reduction below the 2007 baseline).

The Climate Action Office webpage provides information on Climate Action Plan implementation, events, and resources.
