 Wellesley COVID-19 Relief Fund  Community Fund for Wellesley

The Community Fund for Wellesley, an endowed fund of the Foundation for MetroWest,  a tax exempt 501(c)(3), EIN: 043-266-789, partnered with the Wellesley Select Board in April 2020 to create the Wellesley COVID-19 Relief Fund. This new fund supported the urgent and evolving needs in Wellesley resulting from the Coronavirus crisis. Every dollar donated to the fund was returned to the community to directly benefit residents.

From April 2020 through June 2021, the Wellesley COVID-19 Relief Fund awarded grants on a rolling and rapid basis to nonprofit organizations and Town departments providing critical services and support for our community in response to COVID-19 pandemic. Assistance included:

  • PPE for frontline and health care workers;
  • Public and mental health programs & initiatives for residents;
  • iPads and PocketTalkers to connect families with loved ones at long-term care facilities;
  • Mask-making supplies and sanitizing stations to promote safe back-to-business and back to-school programs in Wellesley;
  • Wellesley Green Shirts job corps for local teens including park rangers, sports camp counselors, and movie monitors;
  • And much more.

The COVID-19 Relief Fund awarded its final grant in June 2021, once the State of Emergency in Massachusetts ended. In fourteen months, a total of $125,000 in aid was provided to the Wellesley community.
