Trails Committee Minutes 09/20/2007
TRAILS COMMITTEE
MEETING MINUTES
September 20, 2007

Attendees:Denny Nackoney, Joan Gaughan, Len Poitras, Miguel Lessing, Jim Elliot, Bob White

Citizen: Marcia Rowlands

The FY09 Capital Budget was unanimously approved. I forwarded a copy to Janet Bowser.

Len and Miguel will remark the Morses Pond Trail to include the section around Ice House Pond and the section parallel with the Crosstown Trail. Len has gotten Wellesley College to let us mark and map a section of the Guernsey Path through the campus. Len and Denny will mark the trail. Great work Len. Denny will ask Mark Stockman to GPS these new sections, as well as any others that we change in the next several months in anticipation of a revised map printing in the Spring.

We had a successful pruning party around Longfellow Pond on Saturday the 22nd. Thanks to those who attended.

I attended the TDRT meeting the regarding 27 Washington St (Grossman's) site. The current plan is for 150 units of rental property, 20% affordable, and retail/office space. The NRC and I expressed our desire to keep the 40' railroad right-of-way as green as possible. I will forward Han's Larson a copy of our wish list, which will include the developer putting in a map house and funding a canoe ramp on Boulevard Ave. I will take any ides that you have over the weekend and send my list to Hans on Monday. The Kid's Day project is moving forward. Joan has received permission to use the MassBay parking lot for the event. Jane Pierce, Wetlands Coordinator has been very helpful in planning the event.

I will get a contact name for the Beard Way development to ensure that they maintain the path as was agreed to in the development plan. We need a trail monitor for the Beard Trail, a lovely wooded path on the Needham/Wellesley line on Grove St.
We are updating our project list. Please forward any ideas that you have to me.

Our next meeting will be Tuesday October 23rd, (not the 30th) at 7:30 in the NRC Office.
