Trails Committee Agenda 03/18/2008
TRAILS COMMITTEE
MEETING MINUTES
March 18, 2008

Attendees: Denny Nackoney, Miguel Lessing, Peter Rovick, Len Poitras, Tim Anderson, Bob White
Friends: Diane Hall, Rina Rub, Nina Danforth
Nina Danforth reviewed the relevant sections of Wellesley's Open Space Plan. The Committee had several suggestions. Nina will email a revised copy to me and I will continue to update the plan.
The Committee approved money to maintain our internet domain name for another five years.
The High School Senior project has been expanded to include not only trails cleanup but a minor trail reroute.
On the 22nd interested members walked Centennial and agreed to reroute the main trail through the bluebird meadow. This reroute will involve the moving of one post and the placing of several arrows. Two other reroutes, which will move the trail off very eroded sections, have been added to the project list.
April 26th is Charles River Clean-up day. Additionally Wellesley Girls Scouts will be working at Morses Pond that day removing invasives and picking up trash. Miguel will coordinate the Girl Scout work. The NRC will coordinate the Charles River Cleanup.
The Committee has recommended doggie bag holder be placed at four locations; Longfellow Pond, Russell Road, the Brook Path at Cottage St, and the Crosstown at Warren. I will contact Mike Quinn at the DPW for his input.
The Committee approved Option 4 as the new map header. We anticipate updating the maps in May to include the new header and the recent changes.
The NRC has approved the most recent plan for the railroad RoW east of 27 Washington St. The plan calls for approximately one third of the RoW to be used for parking and two thirds as green space. The NRC is attempting to get conservation easements on the green space as well as the riverfront area owned by National Development. The abutters continue to object to the height and location of the apartment buildings. The Board of Selectmen will review the traffic study at their March 24th meeting.
The next meeting will be Thursday April 24th at 7:30.
Bob White
Chairman Trails Committee
