Public Meetings
Over the last five weeks, the SBC has conducted multiple public meetings, providing an overview of the High School Project under review.  As part of these meetings, a series of "fit-tests" have been discussed in an effort to identify the multiple priorities and concerns and to tap the collective creativity needed to yield the right project for our town.

A "fit-test" is a design concept which identifies one way the list of desired spaces can literally fit on a site.  The project architects have developed multiple fit-test options, which range from partial renovation/new construction to all new construction.  The physical site is remarkably constrained and has posed significant restrictions on where and how the building can be constructed. Further information on the site and fit test options can be viewed in the  SBC presentation available online.

The input received at  these public meetings will be reviewed by the SBC over the next few weeks, as they continue to assess the options and the estimated costs.

Next Steps
Over the next two months, the SBC will be reviewing the multiple aspects of the High School Project, including assessment of the fit-test options.  Included in this review will be a rigorous analysis of costs associated with the options and the continued study of the many priorities expressed by residents.  Additionally, SBC members will be visiting completed school building projects to assess partial renovation versus all new construction outcomes.

Further, it is anticipated that discussions with the  Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) will commence and timelines will be more clearly defined.
