** SCHOOL CROSSING GUARDS **
Excellent opportunity for individuals concerned about the safety of children. The Town of Wellesley is currently looking to hire School Crossing Guards. We are seeking dependable individuals to assure the safety of school children crossing the streets as they go to and from school. Interested individuals need not be Wellesley residents. The morning shift is from 7:55 a.m. to 8:25 a.m. and the afternoon shift is generally from 3:05 p.m. to 3:35 p.m. On Wednesdays, the afternoon shift is from 12:05 p.m. to 12:35 p.m. Salary is $14.79/hour plus a $5.00 stipend for each shift. ** FLEET MAINTENANCE MECHANIC **
The Town of Wellesley DPW is accepting applications for an experienced fleet maintenance mechanic to maintain, inspect, diagnose, and repair a diverse public works fleet including on- and off-road light, medium and heavy duty vehicles and equipment. You will work with a team-oriented organization that provides exceptional customer service and optimal working conditions including a modern, clean service area as well as access to specialty tools and equipment. Successful candidates will provide their own basic shop tools. Annual base salary range is $45,260 – $58,700. ** SEASONAL PARK AND TREE MAINTENANCE STAFF **
The Town of Wellesley is a predominantly residential community, located approximately 13 miles west of Boston. Its geographic location and its visual characteristics make it a highly desirable suburb of the Boston area. This town has over 255 acres of active recreational space and 642 acres of passive open space, along with over 6,000 public street trees. The Wellesley D.P.W. Park & Tree Division is responsible for maintaining the town athletic fields, playgrounds, parklands, conservation areas, public shade trees, open spaces and the landscapes surrounding town building. Presently we are seeking individuals who like to work outdoors in all weather conditions, can follow verbal & written directions, work independently and possess a strong work ethic. Positions may start as early as Mid April and last until late
September. Individuals must be able to work a minimum twelve week period. Full and part time seasonal work is available, no weekend or holiday hours are required and candidates must be least 18 years old to apply. ** TREE CLIMBER **
The Wellesley Department of Public Works, Park and Tree Division, is currently seeking a Tree Climber. Reporting to the Foreman and/or Lead Tree Climber, the Tree Climber performs all kinds of tree care including planting, pruning, fertilizing, bark tracing, pest control, hazardous electric line pruning, tree removal and other operations involving rigging. The ability to rope climb and work in trees is essential. The position requires the incumbent to work outdoors in all weather conditions, in high and precarious places, and in the immediate vicinity of electric lines; to participate in the Town’s snow and ice control program; and to be available for stand-by, emergency and weekend duties as required. The incumbent performs tasks for other divisions and Town departments when needed. One to three years experience
in the tree care industry with Knowledge of trees and shrubs, of how plants are affected by urban and suburban conditions, of agriculture-related trades such as landscaping, arboriculture, and forestry, and of electric line clearance. Within six months of obtaining this position, or current possession of the following certifications/licenses: Massachusetts Class B CDL; Massachusetts Hoisting Engineer’s License 1B and 2B; Massachusetts Pesticide Applicator’s License; CPR and First Aid Certification; and completion of Electrical Hazards Awareness Program (EHAP) training. Familiarity with applicable laws, regulations and standards including, but not limited to, Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 87 and American National Standards Institute ANSI Z133.1 pertaining to tree care and electric line clearance operations.
