The Town of Wellesley Information Technology (IT) Department is seeking to hire a full-time (35 hours/week) Systems Administrator. Under the direction of the Network Manager the Systems Administrator’s primary responsibility is to design and implement highly-scalable data storage platforms, and to advance the Town’s Microsoft Office365 platform (incl. Exchange Online, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Skype for Business). The incumbent is a project manager, involved in the strategic planning for system enhancements that increase productivity for over 300 Town network end-users. As a member of an IT support team with shared responsibilities, the Systems Administrator is expected to support the Network Manager and Desktop Administrator with user and email account management, backups, disaster recovery, and cybersecurity.

Requirements:  Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline.  Three years of experience administering physical and virtual IT systems.  Three years of experience with Windows server operating systems (2008 or later). Documented experience administering SharePoint Server or Online.  Knowledge of networking protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and LAN/WAN. Three years of experience with server virtualization technologies (VMWare, or equivalent). Ability to communicate technical information in simple oral and written instructions to non-technical users. Knowledge of alternate desktop/mobile operating systems (MacOS, iOS, Android) preferred.

Anticipated hiring range $60-71K, DOQ, with excellent benefits (health insurance, vacation, sick time, retirement plan).

Responsibilities of this full-time (35 hour/week) position include assisting the Building Inspector in enforcing the provisions of 780 Code of Massachusetts Regulations (CMR) R7; enforcing the Town’s Zoning Bylaw and any other applicable Town Bylaws; reviewing applications and inspecting building construction prior to issuing permits for new construction, alterations, or repairs.  In accordance with the provisions of Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 143, Section 3, each local inspector shall have had at least five years’ experience in the supervision of building construction or design or in the alternative a two-year Associates Degree in a field related to building construction or design, or any combination of education and experience which would confer equivalent knowledge and ability, as determined by the Board of Building Regulations and Standards (BBRS).  General knowledge of the accepted requirements for building construction, fire prevention, light, ventilation, safe egress; as well as a general knowledge of other equipment and materials essential for safety, comfort and convenience of occupants of a building or structure.  Each local inspector shall be certified by the BBRS in accordance with the provisions of 780 CMR R7, the Rules and Regulations for the Certification of Inspectors of Buildings, Building Commissioners and Local Inspectors. Current certification is highly preferred. Excellent opportunity for individuals concerned about the safety of children.  The Town of Wellesley is currently looking to hire School Crossing Guards.  We are seeking dependable individuals to assure the safety of school children crossing the streets as they go to and from school. Responsible for performing a variety of snow & ice removal tasks that include hand shoveling & sanding, spreading ice melt with a walk behind spreader, operation of a walk behind snow blower and operation of a Trackless Sidewalk Tractor with plow, sander and blower attachments, and non CDL plow vehicles. The incumbent shall, when required, perform other assignments essential to the Department of Public Works snow & ice operation. Position requires being on call 24 hours a day with the ability to report to work within one hour of being notified in order to carry out snow and ice duties as assigned. Once assigned, incumbent must be able to work long hours during snow and ice storm events that may last 24 hour periods or greater. The incumbent shall plan and conduct a wide variety of skilled and semi-skilled routine and repetitive tasks; interpret maps, written and verbal instructions; determine work procedures; examine and inspect work; keep records of work and materials; take all necessary safety precautions; maintain and keep tools and equipment in proper operating order and insure that work is performed in accordance with standard snow & ice practices, general instructions, and established schedules. The incumbent may work alone or with others. Appointment is from November 15th, 2016 to April 1st. 2017. Rate of pay is $20.00 to $25.00 per hour based on experience.  
  • Ability to operate equipment such as a sidewalk tractor, l-ton pick-up or dump truck with plow, walk behind snow blower, walk behind spreader, shovel and various hand tools.  
  • Ability to interpret maps, written and verbal instructions.
  • Valid Class D Massachusetts Operator's License.
  • Ability to be on call 24 hours during Winter Season.
  • Ability to report for work with one hour of being notified.
  • Ability work long hours that may exceed a 24 period.
  • Ability to work outdoors during snow & ice storms.

Part-time position (18 hours/week) patrolling on and off street parking areas to enforce the Town’s parking meter regulations, issues parking tickets to violators, and performs basic meter repair.  Work includes walking a beat in outdoor weather conditions.
