Firefighters have been supporting the Muscular Dystrophy Association for over 50 years.
The MDA Labor Day Telethon receives Millions of Dollars from the efforts of Firefighters across the United States and Canada.
There are over 40 different neuromuscular disorders that are covered under the MDA umbrella. The researchers are closing in on life-saving cures and treatments. Its your money that drives these research programs. The people who are afflicted with a neuromuscular disorder and their families thank you for your prayers and financial support.
Wellesley Firefighters have several annual fund raising events:
February- Firefighter Ski Muster Race held at Wachusett Mt. raises thousands of dollars.
February/March- Shamrocks. Firefighters deliver this program to local merchants to sell to their customers.
June- Voluntary Toll Road. Firefighters fill the boot campain raises thousands of dollars. Motorist put money in our boots while they wait for the signal lights to change.
September/October- Annual MDA Golf Tournament. Organized by the Wellesley Firefighters, this event is fun and raises thousands of dollars. All players of any skill level are welcome. Contact FF. Don Toli for more information at (781) 235-1300.
The Wellesley Firefighters, Local 1795 also make direct contributions to MDA.
Wellesley Firefighters vs. Mass Hospital School in Canton, MA in a fast paced wheelchair football game. These games are scheduled 1-2 times thoughout the year.
